Growing Place. Visual Identity. London 2025

EN Growing Place is an initiative exploring how infrastructure – for both urban and rural – growing sites can be created through processes that align with agro-ecological principles. This collaborative project saw Material Cultures engage with Black Rootz and the Wolves Lane Centre to co-design and build an adaptable, replicable building typology called Harvest House. From the beginning, the focus was on regeneration, community engagement, and knowledge sharing. Together with landworkers, natural builders, and community members, Material Cultures ran a series of co-design workshops on site. Growing Place defined a working model for how to build regeneratively: using circular materials and materials from the land, involving the community at every step, and distributing the knowledge and practices developed in the process. The project aims to explore the possibilities of alternative learning models, materials, economies and cultures in constructing the infrastructure required to access and nurture land.

ES Growing Place es una iniciativa para desarollar infraestructura agrícola – tanto en entornos urbanos como rurales – mediante procesos alineados con los principios agro-ecológicos. En este proyecto colaborativo, Material Cultures colaboró con Black Rootz y el Centro Wolves Lane para co-diseñar y construir una tipología modular, adaptable y replicable llamada Harvest House. Desde el principio, el enfoque se centró en principios como regeneración, la participación comunitaria y el intercambio de conocimientos. Junto con múltiples actores locales, Material Cultures organizó una serie de talleres de co-diseño en el sitio. Growing Place definió un modelo de trabajo para construir de forma regenerativa: utilizando materiales circulares y materiales de la tierra, involucrando a la comunidad en cada paso y difundiendo el conocimiento acumulado durante en el proceso. El proyecto busca explorar las posibilidades materiales, economías y culturas alternativas para construir la infraestructura necesaria para acceder y cultivar la tierra.
